Susann Tischendorf

Director for Communications and Digital Innovation

I am passionate about using digital innovation and multi-platform storytelling for the benefit of society. Also, the topic of inclusiveness strongly matters to me as I volunteered since a young age with people that are being marginalised.

Susann leads the Communication and Digital Innovation agenda of iBAN. Susann has a wide range of experience in stakeholder engagement and advocacy for topics of global relevance, including private sector development and disaster risk finance. Working for the United Nations, the World Bank/IFC and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for seven years prior to joining the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, she was assigned to projects in South America, Africa, South Asia, and Eastern Europe. Among others, she was responsible for strengthening the impact measurement framework of the Communications Department of the IMF. She also gained journalism experience working for the broadcasting station Deutsche Welle TV. Susann holds Master’s degrees in Economics/International Relations from Johns Hopkins University (SAIS) in Washington, D.C., USA, and in Audiovisual Communications from the University of Arts in Berlin, Germany. She also studied Cultural Mediation at Sorbonne University in Paris, France. She guest-lectured on the theme of Visual Storytelling in International Development at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., USA. Inclusiveness strongly matters to Susann: For more than 15 years she has been volunteering with handicapped children and was recently awarded with the Silver Honorary Needle of the Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverband Germany.
