Egypt

Egypt is fundamentally a cash-based economy and about 90% of Egyptian citizens do not have a bank account. The joint venture GiroNil was established in 2005 to develop and implement a shared cashless (giro) payment system. GiroNil is a perfect example for a public-private partnership in order to support private sector growth.
