Innovations Against Poverty Survey 2013: What applicants had to say

18. Dec 2013

In July of this year, IAP surveyed applicants from cycles 3 and 4 of the programme to get a sense of the how the programme is perceived overall, how well the application process worked for prospective grantees and how accessible communication with the programme is. With a view to drawing out useful lessons on how to manage a programme like IAP, an overview and analysis of the survey results has been published in this three-page Snapshot.

Survey respondents provided feedback around nine different topic areas, evaluating the ease of access to key application information, the perceived value of IAP at the base of the pyramid and the evolution of their understanding of ‘inclusive business.’

What have we learned?

Overall, we have found that word of mouth and web-based communications are the most important ways to reach potential applicants. One area we have seen significant improvement in is the communication between applicants and the IAP, with response time becoming significantly more prompt than in the previous survey. Nonetheless, the content of communication, or sometimes the lack thereof, still generates frustration with the programme amongst grantees.

If you did not participate in the survey but would like to share your thoughts, please feel free to comment or email innovationsagainstpoverty@se.pwc.com. We are always keen to hear from you and welcome your suggestions to improve our programme!
