In an article for The Guardian, a prominent Indian social entrepreneur and investor argues that the real social enterprises are those that choose to struggle at the margins to make more impact with few resources but with the resolve to make a difference. In this article, he concludes that social enterprises need a nurturing ecosystem, access to intellectual capital that supplements the resolve of these entrepreneurs, and most of all risk-bearing early stage capital that does not fear failure.

Vineet Rai is the founder and chairman of Intellecap. Intellecap provides India country management of the Business Innovation Facility. Vineet is also the Managing director of Aavishkaar, a social venture fund. His views are based on Aavishkaar's investment into early stage social enterprises.
