MEDA is an international economic development organization whose mission is to create business solutions to poverty. Founded in 1953 by a group of Mennonite entrepreneurs, MEDA partners with people living in poverty to start or grow small and medium-sized businesses in developing regions around the world.

<p>The Artha Venture Challenge supports early stage social entrepreneurs in India who are given the opportunity to pitch for up to INR 6 million of funding if matched with the equivalent or more in co-investment. Artha may either lead or simply match any transaction. In addition, the selected enterprises get access to business support, networks and mentoring. The challenge also involves Villgro which provides the incubation support, mentoring and networking support.</p>

<p>Aventura Investment Partners invest in and support companies that provide value chain services to smallholder growers in Africa. It targets companies that provide a range of services in the input supply, production or post-harvest phases of the value chain. Each investment is accompanied by a comprehensive training programme on business processes and job-specific technical skills. The model is highly scalable with core investments that can be replicated across Africa.</p>

The Africa Management Services Company (AMSCO) tackles the scarcity of human capital in Africa by providing human capital solutions to African industries. It works with a wide variety of clients, ranging from private and public investors, small and medium enterprises and large companies through to industry associations and governmental organisations with a vision to grow African businesses, assisting them to become globally competitive, profitable and sustainable. AMSCO grew out of the African Training and Management Services Project (ATMS), a joint initiative of International Finance Corporation (IFC), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and African Development Bank (AfDB).

CEWAS is a non-profit association specialised in improving business practices in water and sanitation through training and awareness-raising. Its "start-up" programme helps to launch new businesses and NGOs through thematic lectures, workshops and one-to-one coaching sessions.

Zebu Investment Partners (ZIP) is a private equity fund manager established to invest across the food value chain throughout Africa. Investment size range between USD 2 million to USD 8 million. Investments are complemented by Technical Assistance Facility through strategic, operational and technical expertise for up to USD 500,000 per investee.

When our journey began in 2015, we focused on providing direct access to electricity to households and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Sub-Saharan Africa.
However, we quickly realised that in order to truly move the needle in this regard, the investment scope had to be broadened to include productive use cases enabled by low carbon energy.

ENVenture is an incubator that empowers rural organisations to learn business skills to launch sustainable clean energy enterprises, starting in Uganda. Incubatees receive a revolving loan and a business coach that mentor them in launching the business, and undertaking the packaged business concept from idea to execution.

Global Partnerships (GP) funds early-stage social enterprises. Its main focus areas are women empowerment and rural poverty. GP provides grants for pilot phase enterprises and debt financing to support growth of proven enterprises.
