Franchising in Frontier Markets: What’s Working, What’s Not, and Why
This study explores franchising in development and its ability to accelerate the growth of successful businesses. It reviews the successes, barriers and enablers for franchising; what the potential is for franchise business models to effectively and sustainably deliver “public” goods and services at scale; and whether micro-franchises offer an effective way to reach (and employ) the base of the pyramid in frontier markets.
