This report argues the case for tourism as an engine of pro-poor growth in Africa. It details the four arguments: (1) Tourism is significant for African economies; (2) Some of the benefits of tourism already reach the poor; (3) The prospects for African tourism look good; (4) Interventions to increase the pro-poor impact of tourism in Africa are tried and tested and ready for replication.
