iSchool provides interactive multimedia education content preloaded on tablets for sale (‘e-learning’) to Zambian schools, teachers, and for home use for pupils on a commercial Basis

Mwabu educational content does not replace face-to-face teaching with e-learning, but supports classroom activities by providing comprehensive lesson plans and interactive. The material helps to broaden the range of pedagogical methods available to teachers while driving engagement and greater understanding among learners.

Inclusive Business Model

The inclusive business model was tested in a cross-section of 20 schools in Lusaka during 2010. This showed that there was keenness to use e-learning, but that it needed to be locally-based and that teachers needed appropriate training to make optimal use of the interactive style that e-learning engenders. The tablets which were then tested on Grade 1 pupils in just seven schools, are now being used by students in higher grades in many more schools.

Impact

Mwabu learn encourages children to explore and analyse. It supports and extends the childrens understanding through self-directed lessons developed by teachers. It Makes learning fun with animations, explanations and activities to engage learners and provides instant feedback to reinforce learning.
