OECD and FAO have developed this Guidance to help enterprises observe standards of responsible business conduct and undertake due diligence along agricultural supply chains in order to ensure that their operations contribute to sustainable development. The Guidance comprises:

• A model enterprise policy outlining the standards that enterprises should observe to build responsible agricultural supply chains;
• A framework for risk-based due diligence describing the five steps that enterprises should follow to identify, assess, mitigate and account for how they address the adverse impacts of their activities;
• A description of the major risks faced by enterprises and the measures to mitigate these risks;
• Guidance for engaging with indigenous peoples.

This paper introduces the IB Scan, a method to reveal crucial insights on the inclusion of smallholders in agricultural value chains complementing conventional data collection methods. The IB Scan offers companies, producer organisations, NGOs, and service providers a fast and efficient monitoring tool to measure the inclusivity of a particular business model as it is perceived by smallholder farmers.

This study provides an evaluation of the impact of the Connected Farmer mobile agriculture (mAgri) solution and documentation of the lessons learned during its implementation. The Connected Farmer solution addresses the value chain management inefficiencies and increases productivity of both the agribusiness and the smallholder farmers who supply them.

This publication provides a conceptual and case-based exploration of scaling impact in relation to PPPs. It seeks to unpack the concept of scaling and create conceptual clarity by presenting an overview of the terms, frameworks, and models used in relation to scaling. It aims at understanding the specific role of PPPs in scaling and at supporting practitioners in getting to grips with different scaling approaches.

This report lays out Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) guidance to help enterprises observe standards of responsible business conduct to ensure that their operations do not lead to adverse impacts and contribute to sustainable development. It covers agricultural upstream and downstream sectors from input supply to production, post-harvest handling, processing, transportation, marketing, distribution and retailing. Several areas of risk arising along agricultural supply chains are addressed: human rights, labour rights, health and safety, food security and nutrition, tenure rights over and access to natural resources, animal welfare, environmental protection and sustainable use of natural resources, governance, and technology and innovation.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: Knowledge about digital payments has been highly fragmented. The lack of a broad and cohesive analytical framework has prevented governments and companies from leveraging the experiences of other markets and players to implement digital payments most effectively. This paper addresses this gap. It reviews 25 countries where digitization has had great impact and reveals 10 tangible steps, or “accelerators,” that governments and companies can take to build inclusive digital economies.

This paper presents an aligned yet customizable framework of indicators for measuring farm-level sustainability in smallholder agricultural supply chains. The ideas presented in the paper are drawn from recent fieldwork of food and beverage companies, standards organizations, NGOs, and development agencies, and were synthesized as part of a community of practice led and facilitated by the Sustainable Food Lab.

This report tackles the issue of how inclusive business models move private sector engagement in the SDGs beyond philanthropic or CSR efforts but ingrain them in the core operations of a business. It identifies five drivers of financial value that can push companies to look for alignment with the SDGs. The report ends with a list of 10 critical success factors to keep in mind when designing and implementing an inclusive business.
