This Access to Finance Guide has been put together  to help entrepreneurs, and women-owned small and growing businesses, through their funding journey. The guide will provide information about the funding landscape in South Africa, types of funders, criteria, the process, tips from funders, and more. 

This guide supports impact-driven investors in developing an investment strategy that accomplishes real-world change. The authors have reviewed existing research and synthesized the available evidence to offer practical recommendations on how to maximize impact. The guide is focused on the impact of the investor herself, as opposed to the impact investee companies create.

ANDE’s Ecosystem Snapshots are designed to collect basic information about the support available for small and growing businesses in a specific city or country. This information acts as a census of the local actors and represents a specific moment in time.

Blended finance is a strategy that combines capital with different levels of risk in order to catalyze risk-adjusted, market-rate-seeking financing into impact investments. The Blended Finance Working Group identified a number of challenges that arise in structuring blended finance investments. This resource is divided into three sections. Each section includes a downloadable list of key considerations and questions aimed to ensure stakeholders are aware of each other’s motivations and expectations in engaging in a blended finance structure; and links to blended finance case study examples to demonstrate the range of ways each catalytic tool can be leveraged in  blended finance structures.

The Scaling Pathways Theme Studies series dives into five topics, bringing to light lessons learned by successful social enterprises who have navigated challenges on the road to scaled impact. This document explores which financing strategies best support social enterprises' plan for impact at scale.

Blended finance aims to make the financial sector more sustainable and more responsible by unlocking private investment in unprecedented scale to achieve the SGDs – as a matter of good conscience, but also of good business. Financial investments from Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) and the private sector in form of blended finance are critical to build more inclusive businesses. DFIs have a key role to play to influence the participation of institutional investors in blended finance.

This digital database was designed to consolidate impact measurement and management resources and allow users to find those that are most relevant to them. It allows investors to tailor a list of fit-for-purpose resources, and is the most comprehensive database of impact-focused systems, methods, indicators, and data in the world.
