PRIVATE SECTOR PLATFORM FOR LOW EMISSION GROWTH IN GHANA

As part of the implementation of the private sector component of the Low Emission Capacity Building Programme (LECBP) in Ghana, the Private Enterprise Federation (PEF) the facilitating and coordinating institution in the program on behalf of the private sector initiated the process of engaging a technical consultant who will assist the Federation in the implementation of the Project in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESTI) and UNDP. PEF has brought together several players from the private sector including CSOs together to form the Business Network for Climate Action for Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMA) implementation. This network will be result oriented going beyond a talk shop and lead to evident based results such as business linkages, capacity building and awareness creation of the opportunities presented by the NAMA investor guide for businesses to engage in the NAMA implementation. The platform will help identify various projects that are been implemented or planned ventures by private sector players and to help link them to potential partners, raw materials, markets and funding sources.  Achieve of the goals of this platform will lead to inclusive growth and development of private sector players in both urban and rural communities along the value chain in the areas of agriculture and forestry, waste management, renewable energy, building and construction and electrical appliances. PEF is open to more partners and investors getting on-board to ensure a sustainable success of this programme.
