This report discusses the opportunities with serving low and lower-middle-income (LMI) populations—the groups situated between the very bottom of the pyramid and the existing middle class. It highlights the need for more risk capital to support innovation to improve the lives of LMI populations in emerging markets, and it outlines what types of risk capital are most appropriate for this purpose.
