This report provides a landscape for impact investment women’s health focused in Colombia and Peru in order to catalyze impact investment interest and capital to the most-needed areas of women’s health in Latin America. The Entrepreneurship Database Program collects information from entrepreneurs when they apply to accelerator programs. These entrepreneurs, both those selected and not selected, are then surveyed annually to gather valuable follow-up data. This report summarizes application data collected from ventures operating in Central America that applied to participating accelerator programs between 2013 and 2018.

This report summarizes information gathered from 48 Impact Investors and entrepreneurial ecosystem stakeholders in Latin America - primarily members of the ANDE network- as well as 254 firms that comprise their portfolios. It includes information from surveys and key informant interviews with 24 Impact Investors and entrepreneurial ecosystem actors. This report highlights that while it is clear that gender equality is good for business and good for development, Impact Investors in Latin America are still only in the early stages of embedding this focus in their investment process and activities.

This case study looks at Coletivo Retail, an eight-week training programme to empower unemployed youth living in low-income communities, such as favelas, and to help them find new economic opportunities, set up by Coca-Cola in Brazil to strengthen its business by advancing the economic and social conditions in the communities in which it operates. The programme is present across 126 sites in Brazil and Coca-Cola’s sales in Coletivo communities grow 9.5% more per year on average, as a result of increased small retailer productivity and higher levels of economic prosperity in Coletivo communities.
