This paper analyses coffee producers in two coffee cooperative societies in the Mt Kenya area. It examines the effects of coffee price changes on the livelihoods of producers, and the coffee value chains and the stakeholders involved at various levels of the chain. It also identifies household responses and coping strategies to changes in the price of coffee; as well as assessing impacts on natural resources and the environment and implications for the future of coffee.
