The Bhungroo system helps smallholder farmers harvest rainwater throughout the monsoon season so they can use it during the dry season. This paper examines the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in relation to companies' business activities. It sets out many significant opportunities for all companies to play a role in the achievement of the SDGs.

This study applies a base-of-the-pyramid impact assessment (BoP IA) framework to an enterprise providing sanitation services to urban slums in Kenya, with a focus on its poverty-alleviation impacts on children five years old and under. The analysis shows that assessing changes across multiple dimensions of poverty, including capability, economics, and relationship well-being, improves understanding of the effectiveness of a sanitation intervention.

This report illustrates the challenges and benefits of inclusive recycling. It provides a toolkit which facilitates the integration of gender into recycling projects, and an analysis of women's and men's access to control over and benefit from resources in the recycling sector in Latin America and the Caribbean. It offers practical tools for project design and implementation for project managers which allow to increase the access of poor women to the formal recycling market.

This policy brief describes the results of a randomized controlled trial in Cambodia testing the impact of offering microfinance institution (MFI) loans for latrines versus cash on delivery. Key findings are: (1) MFI loans increased latrine sales four-fold, (2), MFI loans decreased marketing and sales cost per latrine by 70%, and (3) MFI loans increased purchase rates at any price.

It is based on interviews with managers from water service providers across four countries and analysis of a household survey and billing data from a water supply scheme in Kenya. The study quantifies the impacts of mobile water payments and reveals the factors that drive and curtail customer adoption.
